TASK
Select one prompt from each column that has been given. From those prompts, you have chosen, imagine and visualise your interpretation of each prompt you have chosen. Expand your ideas of the prompts with visual notes, sketches and mind mapping. Let your imagination run wild. Lastly, mould your 3 prompts into an artwork related to the title: Something I am.
PROGRESS
EMPATHY
PROMPTS I CHOSE:
-
SOMETHING BLACK
-
SOMETHING PECULIAR
-
SOMETHING CLEAR
This was my favourite part of the assignment as I could just use my thoughts, experience and interest to expand my thoughts on the prompts.
How I started with the assignment is I just took a blank piece of paper and just start mind mapping down things that come to my head when I think of each prompt word.
Improved version.
DEFINE
This is where you have to use the prompt words and start finding relation between all three words combined.
DRAFTS
For me this part of the assignment I had a hard time because sometimes it can be difficult to find inspiration. Define is to find meaning, so I asked myself what is the meaning of this and this is where I found my ideas. From each column (picture next to this description) I chose one word and started combining them into a narrative.
FINAL DEFINE
I chose words from each columns and linked them closely together. This process took me awhile to see what can be linked to each other.
IDEATION
This is where I explained more of each narrative I did in define. I enjoyed this part of the assignment because I could just use my imagination to explain the narrative as it could give more expression to the artwork.
PROTOTYPE
These were many prototypes I had to choose from. This was one of my favourite parts of the assignment as I could experiment with the ideation and add more details to it or switch things up.
THE FINAL OUTCOME
OUTCOME
REFLECTION
LIFELONG LEARNING
When I first started this I realise it was similar to an exam I have taken (art IGCSE) , I thought to myself I think I’ll definitely have fun with this assignment. As I was doing this assignment I looked at the artwork and linked it to life itself, I tried and analyse my artwork thoroughly as every part of the artwork could have a meaning. As the assignment was called “something I am” I understood a human being’s feelings and I learnt how the artwork could be linked with one’s life.
THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS
I did have my ups and downs while doing this assignment, the most difficult part was choosing how I was going to create a story through my artwork, this was an interesting process because you could interpret an artwork however you like. Through my ideation, I analyse my artwork and gave meaning to my artwork, giving a sense of creativity to it. Prototype gave me a way to come out with different types of styles to deliver the artwork, from what I have learnt you can interpret art in many ways.
INTRAPERSONAL
As I have said in my lifelong learning’s reflection on how the artwork could be linked to one’s life, this gave the assignment a more interesting and passionate feel to doing the process of the assignment. I carefully understood how to analyse my work thoroughly and check if the meaning of the artwork made sense. Thankfully, this assignment went really well.
